Susan Beniston MFA, ATR-BC, RCAT
Susan Beniston
Susan lives in Toronto, and has been a registered, board-certified art therapist for 25 years. She has extensive experience in sensory-based attunement, and trauma informed art therapy practices. Intent on promoting the arts and well-being, Susan founded Sheridan’s First Art Hive in 2017 to share the strengths and inspirations of the Art Hives movement. She adapted the model’s flexibility, generating Art Hives with internal partners to meet compelling needs within Sheridan’s learning community that augment existing health and wellness services at the College.
As well as being an art therapist, Susan is a sculptor and an arts educator. For 15 years her role at Sheridan was Professor of 3D Design in FAAD’s Art Fundamentals Program. Her current actions include: co-building relational knowledge and resilience through arts-based public engagement and arts-practice as research.
