Music Therapy Resources

Over the past four years SCER Schlegel Innovation Leader in Arts and Aging Dr. Kate Dupuis has been working with front-line providers and with the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging to study the benefits of music therapy for long-term care residents, the staff and family/friends who care for them, and members of the community who join them in music-making. The two implementation guides found on this page can be used to facilitate intergenerational music therapy and virtual music therapy visits for residents and their essential family and friend care partners. These guides explain how to provide music therapy opportunities to residents virtually, which may help provide additional opportunities for social connection during times of enforced isolation and social distancing.
