Xinyao Shao studied art for ten years and she loves to draw – especially with just pen and paper. When she applied to the Galaxy Studio arts program at her dream university in Hebei, China, the competition was fierce: there were 6900 applicants for only 10 seats! She felt extremely stressed before the entrance exam, and she thought it was impossible to compete with 6899 applicants. “Just treat it as your normal daily practice,” her art teacher encouraged her. She followed her teacher’s advice, and the day of the exam, she managed to concentrate and stay calm. When the exam results came out, she was thrilled to find out she was one of the 10 applicants who got accepted into the program. This taught her to trust herself and her skills and to be brave. She believes that as long as you are willing to achieve something, you are halfway there.
