Abstract

This animated short about a mischievous rodent was created as Mao’s graduation project for the Digital Creature Animation post-graduate certificate program at Sheridan College. Mao enjoyed observing chipmunks and rabbits eating grass and nuts in the Oakville, Ontario area, and was inspired to create a creature with the character of a rabbit and the speed of chipmunks. Mao found the tiny South African elephant shrew through watching documentaries as research. Mao describes music as playing an important role in his life, and he finds enjoyment listening to different types of music. During the research phase of the project, he found that animals can also appreciate music, which influenced the creation of the story and film.
