Description
This interactive timeline provides a comprehensive look at Canada's history of Residential Schools, and Egerton Ryerson's hand in their inception. By contrasting his work and reputation as 'The Father of Education' in Canada to his role as 'The Father of Residential Schools', we aim to give new insight into his legacy and spark discussion about the direction Ryerson University should go in the future.
The timeline is divided into three parts: the mid 19th century, the late 19th century and beginning of the 20th century, and the early 20th century; covering Canada's history and its very recent past. With this timeline, we hope to keep the discussion present, and to keep moving the topic forward.
