SOURCE Non-Exclusive Distribution Licence

SOURCE, Sheridan's online institutional repository, archives and disseminates scholarly and creative works created and contributed by members of the Sheridan community. SOURCE is maintained by Library & Learning Services.

To ensure informed consent and enable a streamlined process, this Agreement covers current submission(s) and any future submission(s) that you choose to share on SOURCE.

License Grant

As the author or creator of my submission(s), I grant to Sheridan a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, and royalty-free license to reproduce and disseminate on SOURCE under these terms and conditions:

  • I retain copyright to my submission(s), unless there is a publishing or contractual agreement with a third party stating otherwise.
  • I grant permission for others to access my submission(s) on SOURCE under the Creative Commons CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) License, unless I request a different license with the SOURCE Team or I am unable to grant this license due to a publishing or contractual agreement*.
  • I permit Sheridan to archive and preserve my submission(s) on SOURCE, subject to the discretion of the SOURCE Team.

Contributor Warranties

I represent and warrant that:

  • I have the right to grant the license covered in this agreement*.
  • I am responsible for informing any other rights holder(s) the contribution of my submission(s) to SOURCE and granting of the license covered in this agreement.
  • To the best of my knowledge and belief, any third-party content in my submission(s) is either in the public domain, is used with permission from the copyright holder and appropriately acknowledged, or is used through a valid exception in the Canadian Copyright Act.
  • Licensed materials, such as materials provided through Sheridan Library & Learning Services databases, are used according to the permitted uses of the license.
  • My submission(s) do not, to the best of my knowledge and belief, contain any libelous or other unlawful matter and does not violate anyone's right to privacy.
  • I will respond to requests related to uses of my material outside of the license.

Personal Information Release

I agree to have my submission(s) published to SOURCE:

  • My submission(s), my name, Sheridan e-mail, and SOURCE account password, should I choose to activate an account, will be stored on servers in Canada on which SOURCE resides, and subject to federal and provincial laws in Canada.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

I agree that:

  • This Agreement and all questions of construction, validity and performance under this Agreement shall be governed by Ontario law and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Ontario courts.

Release and Indemnification

I acknowledge that:

  • I have read and understood the SOURCE Non-Exclusive Distribution License and have indicated my understanding and agreement by choosing the "YES" option and sending this document to the SOURCE Team.
