Interacting with Persons with Dementia in South Asian Communities

Professors Ferzana Chaze and Nellie Groenenberg from the Faculty of Applied Health and Community Studies at Sheridan College have partnered with the Alzheimer’s society of Peel to create educational materials on the topic of interacting with persons with dementia specifically for the international South Asian community. Two international students from the Social Service Gerontology Program Rajni Sharma and Jasleen Kaur -have been an integral part of this work. Together the Sheridan and Alzheimer’s’ Society of Peel teams are in the process of creating linguistically and culturally relevant resources in simple conversational Hindi and Punjabi that can be used with South Asian caregivers in Canada and around the world.
