Computer Systems Technology (SDNE)

SDNE Capstone is a two-semester culminating group project reflecting learning from across the program, with additional focus on integrating self-directed learning, toward production of a possible entrepreneurial venture. In Term 5 Capstone Prototype, students envision, design, plan, and build toward a software prototype, and in Term 6 Capstone proper, students continue to build, test, polish, perfect, and present their projects. Students are encouraged to pursue a “million-dollar-idea” under the mentorship and guidance of Applied Computing professors, and several SDNE Capstones have resulted in new business opportunities. Projects typically involve a combination of AI, Cloud, back and front-end web development, Android and iOS apps, Unity-based and other games, and occasionally IoT hardware.
