The Theatre Poster Project (aka Brand Aid) is a project by illustration students at Trafalgar Campus.

The course, Illustration Disciplines 2: Visual Strategies, is a mandatory course in the Honours Bachelor of Illustration Program. It is offered in the Fall semester for 3rd Year students.

The Theatre Poster Project is an assignment designed to challenge the student with creating work that engages with a specific audience and voice of a particular live theatre brand. Posters are an exciting aspect of advertising for specific shows and they function as promotional tools in their persuasion.

Effective posters provide an open invitation to come to the show, but they work hard to ensure attendance, build excitement, or define the direction of a production or playhouse. Each Fall, students in this program are given a number of theatre companies, and a number plays to choose from. The students research and read the plays, then generate images inspired by that play. The final image strives to be dynamic and work from a distance, yet reward the viewer when seen up close. A selection of successful posters is chosen each winter to showcase the excellent final images from the project.

Instructors of this course are: Thom Sevalrud, Rick Sealock, Lynn Scurfield, Katy Dockrill, and Andrew Patterson.
