The selected documents in this section include supply lists for courses such as animation and drawing, handouts on techniques and portfolio construction, as well as information sheets on various design concepts and ideas.
There are several interesting things to point out from these documents:
• The “Drawing Tool” document was printed on a mimeograph
machine, a duplicating machine that pre-dated photocopiers.
• Semiotics in art and design were a relatively new topic to teach
during Wightman’s time
• Art students had to create their own presentation portfolios
according to the ins tructions given by Wightman

A handout on the Bauhaus Art School, which was an art and design school directed by Walter Gropius and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and operated from 1919 to 1933 in Germany. The handout mentioned some of the art and design ideas taught at Bauhaus including Gestalt psychological theory of perception and simplified designs for the purpose of mass production.
