This study explores how older adults perceive and interact with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in supporting healthy aging. As the global population is expected to more than double by 2050, the demand for scalable technologies such as AI continues to rise, offering opportunities for health monitoring, social engagement, and independence (O’Brien et al., 2020). However, barriers such as usability, trust, and affordability impact adoption. This research examines older adults’ attitudes, challenges, and recommendations for AI integration in aging support systems.
The need is particularly urgent given the global trend of population aging, with the number of older adults expected to surpass 1.5 billion by 205. As AI increasingly integrates into daily life, older adults express both interest and apprehension about its role in aging support. While some find AI beneficial, others struggle with its complexity.
The research question was, ‘What perspectives do older adults have about using artificial intelligence to support healthy aging?’
