Abstract

Many older adults are facing increased hardships living in the community that impedes on their quality of life The purpose of this research was to explore innovative universal design solutions that could be applied to the problem of aging in place. The data collection method used for this research study was qualitative. The research was compromised of an in-depth online interview with 5 participants who are home and community care practitioners within the field of gerontology in Ontario. The unique contributions that my findings provided was concrete social recommendations from home and community care practitioner's that will improve the quality of life of the older adults aging in place. The utilization of human resources and community partnerships to support the activity of daily living was advocated by all participants throughout the online interview.
