Description
Kitchener is a very controversial name for a city, but why is that? The history of the name dates back to 1916 when anti-German sentiment in Canada led to a push to abandon the original name of Berlin. Instead, they choose the namesake of British war hero Lord Herbert Horatio Kitchener. However, since 1916, our definition of ‘hero’ has changed dramatically. What can a city do about being named after someone with such a dark history?
